She’s made entirely from real preserved botanicals: russet and copper eucalyptus, soft preserved Asparagus fern, gentle dried textures and that real painted copper preserved rose that catches the light so beautifully.

If you’d told me six weeks ago I’d be standing under this installation feeling lighter, happier, and actually myself again… I’d have laughed. Or cried. Probably both.

Closing the shop so suddenly — because the landlord decided I had to be out — was fucking brutal. The timing, the stress, the sheer madness of emptying the whole place in days… But in truth, even without having to leave , the support just wasn’t there. Not from the council, not for independent retail, not for the community we were trying to continue to build for you all…

And here’s the saddest irony: I feel better now. Properly better.

After my ADHD diagnosis last year totally knocked me, I didn’t realise how thinly I was stretched. Stepping away from the shop has given me actual breathing room. My head is clearer. My energy is steadier. My creativity has exploded. I’m designing again with excitement, not exhaustion.

And my home studio? I’m so bloody incredibly proud of it. I worked like a maniac for four weeks — and it’s now a beautiful, warm, calm space to work in and welcome you in for private home commissions. And I’ve already completed several large installs and events from here without that constant shop stress sitting on my shoulders.

In the new year, we’ll also be using an additional off-the-street studio for the really big builds as we grow — the best of both worlds.

There is sadness. When I opened the shop, my dream was to build community on the high street — a welcoming, creative place people could wander into. Flowers and beauty genuinely make people’s lives better, and I wanted to bring that into everyday life.

Watching Stanley Rd struggle under the council’s 10-hour resident-only parking scheme has been heartbreaking. Some shops have gone, others are clinging on. @richmond_council have a lot to answer for — real people and families are being affected.

I’ll never say never to having a shop again, but not until things change. Right now, it’s simply not workable.

The photos are from my recent install for Bon Vivan — work that reminds me why I bloody love what I do.

Special commission this week for the Producers of Moulin Rouge @moulinmusicaluk who celebrate 4 years of the show and it being the longest show ever @piccadillytheatre.
ALL real and preserved - even that superstar gold rose taking centre stage. Preserved red roses, eucalyptus, amaranthus and ruscus - Moulin rouge style!
IMO this is absolutely the coolest way to gift florals… as they’ll last longer than your ex (!)… plus don’t just end up in the bin a week later…
My favourite kind of commission this one … ♥️. Huge congratulations to cast and the amazing Piccadilly team ♥️

Recycling and reusing to turn the front of @bonvivanartisancafe in Teddington into a magical Christmas Partridge in a Pear Tree.
Layering over the top of our base install that stays up all year round, we make seasonal changes to the front of owner Stani’s lovely cafe.
With the world being as shite as it is right now, this year I’ve gone uber soft and romantic with the design… we all need fairy dust and sparkles in our lives right now, right?
I really enjoyed creating this in the winter sunshine - especially as I got a chance to see so many lovely local faces from up the ladder I’ve missed seeing since moving studio and closing the shop - despite being incredibly happy with my new space and the freedom it’s given me to design more. Over the next few weeks I’ve some more local collaborations planned - so stay tuned. A right royal floral design for the amazing people at Brinsworth House and the @royalvarietyperformance. Some of you know my Dad is at Brinsworth House and we are unbelievably lucky. They are the most unbelievable team and the care and love and support he gets is incredible. It’s like a ( slightly bonkers) extended family with the residents and gorgeous staff alike…🥰. The florals were designed for the main stage in the theatre living room there. Red white and blue obvs, with a little bit of a razzle dazzle in the bow tie and some musical show biz adornments. It’s lovely seeing them in pics of the amazing performers that go to speak and perform there with them( snaps here of the amazing Dame Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter and @claresweeney22). The charity does incredible work for all and everyone who works and has worked in the entertainment business fallen in hard times … and tonight if you are super quick productions tickets have just gone online on sale!

Part 1 - Red Room, Strawberry Hill Flower Festival 2025 :

In 1996, as a young woman, I was invited to work with David Lynch on the set of Lost Highway. After filming, he asked me to stay on and work on post-production from his home and studio in the Hollywood Hills.
This very personal installation is inspired by the filming of the burning hut in Death Valley on a night shoot – a sequence that has since become an iconic moment in his work. Working with David showed me that there was strength in strangeness, and gave me
the freedom to see difference as possibility.
It grew from my own story, but also from the generosity of others who have given their time, voices, and objects. Shaped through my neurodivergent mind, and the difficulty and trauma of late self-diagnosis - the journey of this installation ( the burning and filming of the hut with the people I shared the experience with), became an act of both remembrance and renewal. I’ll do some follow up posts to this as it was a multimedia install and there’s too much to say and to share here with the incredible collaboration I had to make it happen. Honestly the highlight of my floral career to date … being amongst my floral heroes and artists sharing our stories through flowers.

Part 1 - Red Room, Strawberry Hill Flower Festival 2025 :

In 1996, as a young woman, I was invited to work with David Lynch on the set of Lost Highway. After filming, he asked me to stay on and work on post-production from his home and studio in the Hollywood Hills.

Happy Fathers Day to my wonderful, one of a kind, massive pain in the backside, funny, complicated, loved by all who meet him dad.

The track you listen to written by the gorgeous @nerinapallot about her time with Mr King - aka my Dad.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks with dad back in hospital having his knee replaced and some post surgery complications. More crazy hallucinations accompanied by inappropriate utterances and comments (making his thankfully one fellow room mate blanch in horror… 😳) and chest and kidney infections and a lot more worry for us all last week especially …

But he’s tough my dad. It’s hard to believe a year ago he was in the same hospital recovering from a massive stroke. And 18 months ago in Dumfries hospital for several weeks with a hip break and delirious.
But today back at Brinsworth again, Max had him up and walking on crutches and we all went out and ate ice cream and sat in the sunshine.

Dad you drive me fucking insane. ( I know I do you too 😜) … but my love for you is immense. Forever and ever and always and always.

Summer makeover for @bonvivanartisancafe in Teddington.
Perfect example of how at Immortal Botanica we keep repurposing and upcycling our installs for our clients - saving ££ and using florals sustainably. Using florals already sourced from another job we’ve layered gorgeous summery blues and whites over our Autumn / Winter design. After summer is finished ( of god, let’s not go there yet … ☹️) - these florals will be packed away ready for next year or reused for other designs - revealing Autumn at lovely Bon Vivan once more…
We repurpose everything. If the blooms look shabby, we clean them, repaint them…faux florals should never be single use. Ever. And that’s what we do best with businesses that care. Gonna keep beating that drum! 🥰

MIND CHARITY - a concept designed by me for a special event held in London Borough of Richmond recently. @mindcharity @rb_mind

Today marks the end of mental health awareness week… A week set aside to remind us that mental health struggles are real and nothing to be ashamed of. And I know this because it’s part of me being me. It’s no secret that I’ve faced depression and dark times, and I live with ADHD…Sometimes it feels overwhelming to navigate a world that doesn’t always understand how my mind works.

One of the things that has helped me find light in the darkest moments is my art and what I do. My business has become more than just a creative outlet – it’s a way for me to express emotions, find calm, and connect with others through beauty and storytelling and people. Working with flowers grounds me, it gives me purpose…even on the shittest of days. And to have been able to find that makes me incredibly lucky.

That’s why this week matters so much. And I strongly believe that my sharing and being open and honest about my own story is important. People still find it so hard to open up, they feel unnecessary shame which in turn makes us feel more alone. Breaking the stigma, sharing our stories and talking openly about mental health isn’t easy, but it’s powerful. It helps us heal, connect, and support one another.

All our feelings are valid, and all of our stories matter. The unique and incredible ways we are made up are what makes the world so incredibly bloody beautiful right?
Sending all of you who suffer so very much love and let’s all keep talking and being open. With zero shame …because that’s how healing and change happens. xxx

Its been an absolutely insane 2 weeks with a big event for a wine launch, Mother’s Day, a big charity event for Mind and today a special commission for the @olivierawards - and I’ve done it solo which has been a LOT. I’ve a gazillion images to share which I will do in the next couple of days, but in the meantime am just posting this… easy peasy, pure and simple and made me happy as my view while I ate my lunch today here!
The sun is shining and I’ve got to say I’m really really looking forward to hanging out with friends this weekend, spending some time on my own home and in the garden planting up some containers … and just stopping for 2 minutes. Concept designed for @rb_mind and @mindcharity for a special event this week.

Today I’ve made up 15 different ‘mind’ floral vases symbolising the beautiful and diverse and unique make up of all our individual minds - no matter the space they may currently be.

I was honoured to be asked to help on this … As many of you know I’ve faced my own ups and downs ( most likely co-morbidities of my own ADHD brain) and sometimes my own head has not always been filled with the colour of the flowers I am lucky to work with but much darker spaces . The work this charity does is so necessary.

The vases will be on sale after the event for all of YOU - and money raised to support @rb_mind ( with or without the florals ).

This crazy colourful mind was a simpler one to make and uses gorgeous dyed feather grass - or #styphapennata … it’s like trolls hair right?! (and no comparisons to my own unruly locks please! 🤣).

I can't do a voice over on this post as I'll get emotional ! Some of you will know that Saturday is my lovely Eve's last day at IB 😞before she heads off around the world on new exciting adventures...
Eve started working with me in July last year and I've absolutely loved having her alongside me. I've gotten probably far too fond of her as an employer because as well as being talented she is an absolutely beautiful human being. 🥰

I can't do a voice over on this post as I'll get emotional ! Some of you will know that Saturday is my lovely Eve's last day at IB 😞before she heads off around the world on new exciting adventures...
Eve started working with me in July last year and I've absolutely loved having her alongside me. I've gotten probably far too fond of her as an employer because as well as being talented she is an absolutely beautiful human being. 🥰

Such a beautiful week with you all. Sitting with Bert about to eat moussaka for tea and looking back at this weeks pics on my phone while it cooks!
Lots of vases filled, a very special funeral tribute designed for a beautiful lady which I'm going to talk more about next week, bespoke orders, new designs created and uploaded online, valentines sorted and ready for you all, new spring stems for the website and studio, planning with brides and install consultations, happy customers ... and a new haircut! I bloody love what I get to do.
We are open tomorrow Saturday 10-6.
