Throwback to this install for the Vaults in Richmond. Using blues, oranges and golds. This stayed up for a couple of years before
we took it all back again and reused it for other projects. Win win for the restaurant in terms of florals that didn't need replacing and win win on sustainability. Fun designing this one! Xx

Bon voyage Eve. Soppy post alert ....😢

I can't do a voice over on this post as I'll get emotional ! Some of you will know that Saturday is my lovely Eve's last day at IB 😞before she heads off around the world on new exciting adventures...
Eve started working with me in July last year and I've absolutely loved having her alongside me. I've gotten probably far too fond of her as an employer because as well as being talented she is an absolutely beautiful human being. 🥰
So when Eve told me in January that her and her boyfriend had decided to take a year out to explore Asia I was selfishly sad and gutted in equal measures ... but then of course also incredibly excited for her. Life is always for grabbing adventure and opportunity while you can. 💥
Eve, THANK YOU for all you have done while you've been here. For putting up with my higgledy brain, jumping on board with all the crazy ideas... never complaining as I sent you up the ladder ... again! The endless sweeping and of course, all the absolutely beautiful floral work you have done.
I'm going to miss you a lot ... but go forth... enjoy the world... make amazing memories ... and be happy 😊.

Lots of vases filled, a very special funeral tribute designed for a beautiful lady which I'm going to talk more about next week, bespoke orders, new designs created and uploaded online, valentines sorted and ready for you all, new spring stems for the website and studio, planning with brides and install consultations, happy customers ... and a new haircut! I bloody love what I get to do.
We are open tomorrow Saturday 10-6.

Me with David Lynch - without doubt the person who showed me how art and life are one and the same. Just so immeasurably sad today.

In 1996 I was offered a job as an onset intern and pa in Hollywood on Lost Highway. After filming finished he sugggested I stay on and work through post production - and I ended up living in LA and working alongside him for a year. And of course, it changed my life. His generosity to me as a young person in her mid 20s and what he taught me and shared of his incredible genius was immense. Editing and post production took place in his home in the Hollywood hills and the experience and the bond our small team formed íntense.
Every Friday at the end of the week, I'd head out to buy red wine and cheese and what became known as 'Friday cocktail hour' became a ritual. We'd all of us hunker round the table together in the editing room, sometimes with an incredible last minute guest... Bill Pullman, Marilyn Manson... and stories and art and life were shared.

One cocktail Friday on learning I'd never seen EraserHead in a cinema, he hired the whole Chinese Mann movie theatre and the following week, there our team were sitting next to him watching one of the most undeniably intense and incredible pieces of filmaking of all time. I mean WTAF?
He took me on sound recording walks where we recorded neighbourhood noises through pieces of pipe on a small recording device for Lost Highways sound effects ... and once, when a rattlesnake was found dangerously near the house, he shot it and then had the gardener skin it and present it to me as a souvenir!! I still have it.

I was pursuaded to take on several small extra roles in filming itself - as a waitress ( pic ),police officer, and as the murdering ethereal shadow. My hair clinched that part! Freeze frame and you may spot me.

There are too many incredible pinch me stories to share of my incredible time living and working with David in LA. But of course they are all incidental. Because more than any of these adventures what he taught me was all about the minutiae. How the small moments become art, living within your own altered world (cont in comments )...

2024 saw me designing in Paris,
Battersea Power Station, Covent Garden, flowers for film and TV sets - teaching and workshops....
2024 was beautiful but bloody difficult too. Family illness, juggling the absolute constant never stopping that is running your own biz and my own non-stop never ending thinking that is my ADHD brain which sometimes makes life so very bloody challenging - but which also feeds my creativity and ideas and the bonkers visions and ideas for design that happen - very often at 3am!

There's some new things planned for 2025. Some change which is always scary but necessary...

Thank you ...Eve, Izi, Kathy, Geri, Taya, Emma and all the other IB team who have helped me in 2024 ... and most especially of all...YOU lot and all my clients. Flowers and design really are magic. A very special wreath delivered last week ...and a very very special model ( my fantabulous dad! ) showing it off for Brinsworth House @royalvarietyperformance which is Dads care home. Obviously this wreath needed to shout entertainment for their front door ...
So what better than the circus?!🌟😉. Absolutely no pun intended as to what goes on behind those doors🤣

Did you see the Royal Variety performance on ITV this weekend? My gorgeous niece Iris presented flowers to the king... And Dad was taken to watch. 🥰

We've been so incredibly lucky with Brinsworth and all they've done for dad through a really rubbish time for him. The Royal Variety charity raises money for all those with a history in the entertainment industry ( both in front of and behind the scenes ) for those in need - both young and old and really does amazing things supporting mental health and other physical health and life issues for those that struggle.

I know this time of year can be difficult for so very many, but I've popped up the charity fundraiser link here and in my bio, because whilst we are able to pay for dads care, we have seen first hand what they do to help others. You can also find their just giving link over in the @royalvarietyperformance bio.

A very special wreath delivered last week ...and a very very special model ( my fantabulous dad! ) showing it off for Brinsworth House @royalvarietyperformance which is Dads care home. Obviously this wreath needed to shout entertainment for their front door ...
So what better than the circus?!🌟😉. Absolutely no pun intended as to what goes on behind those doors🤣

Did you see the Royal Variety performance on ITV this weekend? My gorgeous niece Iris presented flowers to the king... And Dad was taken to watch. 🥰

We've been so incredibly lucky with Brinsworth and all they've done for dad through a really rubbish time for him. The Royal Variety charity raises money for all those with a history in the entertainment industry ( both in front of and behind the scenes ) for those in need - both young and old and really does amazing things supporting mental health and other physical health and life issues for those that struggle.

I know this time of year can be difficult for so very many, but I've popped up the charity fundraiser link here and in my bio, because whilst we are able to pay for dads care, we have seen first hand what they do to help others. My Christmas tree at home. Keep watching for lights out! Simple floral gypsophilia tree because honestly I just don't have the time to do anything that takes ages with all the Crimbo shannanigans and designing I have going on for you lovely lot! ❤️.
Sometimes less can be more ( yep I did say that! )and this is such a quick and simple effective trick:

Add your lights first.
Then one x bunch of 25 stems of gyp, there are commonly 2 main varieties - xlence and million star, I've used xlence as it has a larger flower and I find it dries better. Simply cut the stems a little shorter and pushed between the branches - it's very easy and quick!
I then added our 1950s vintage glass baubles because they make me happy- but anything goes.... whites and glass would look super chic, red berry looks brilliant with the whites and greens ... or maximalist crazy mixtures of disco and brights. NO RULES.
Finally a last bunch over the top - think smattering of floral snow softening your baubles etc.
Best bit, after Christmas all the dried gyp can be kept for gorgeous vase arrangements that will last through the year.
Ta dah! Quick incredibly sustainable decor for time poor! But soooo pretty ❤️💫❤️. Loads of love xxxx

Grace Kelly - one of our all dried and preserved natural wreaths ... she's most definitely an elegant blonde ( hence her namesake) ... and this design which was created by Eve also emulates angel wings.
She's everlasting of course ( tho will last more years if not let too wet). We've just 2 left! She's online and we've one made up and ready to go in the shop/studio.

Christmas faux florals - that last more than one season.... for next year and next year and next .....

We've been busy making up gifts and bespoke Christmas displays here. When you buy our faux, it's easy to replace the winter stems with other stems for the new year and summer. Not just flowers that are flown fast by plane only to last a week or two at the most. Many of our florals are hand painted - every teeny tiny petal by hand. And some are real touch which means they even feel like the real thing.

We've a bespoke order option online or drop us a message. If you are local, bring us your Christmas vase and let us style it for you. Or choose one of ours. Better for your pocket, better for our planet 🌎 xxxx

This happened!!

15 years ago, in a meeting room, I sat with Producer @carolinenorris, series director Dom Brigstock and director Chloe Thomas laughing very hard as we auditioned for the very first series of Horrible Histories from a short list of actors and comedians I had brought in to meet them all. I cast the next 5 series. Today HH is on series 11!!

On Friday, Bafta awarded us its highest special award - and the most lovely reunion was had with some very extraordinary and talented people...and I felt just ENORMOUSLY proud to hold that HEAVY statue!

Pic 3 last night by incredible Historian @greg_jenner - (hope that's ok Greg) of some of our amazing original cast, Matt Baynton, Simon Farnaby and Jim Howick.
Pic 4 is a very small excerpt of one of the scripts we sent out for the actors to prep.

I still have all the casting notes from the sessions and a lot of emails back and forth with agents telling them that this kids show would change lives and television and make careers and they should absolutely let their clients audition ( there was a definite awful snobbism against kids tv with agents sadly - don't do the job any more so can say what I like!! Tho won't divulge the ones who refused and missed out 🌟😳) and this weekend has been a nostalgic remembering of a brilliant time.

As I talked to everyone and caught up, it also affirmed to me just how enormously happy I am doing what I do now with flowers. I did not know my ADHD diagnosis back then and I really struggled.

Many told me my career change was crazy, You cast HH for fecks sake, I was doing ok... but as I worked with florals, I began to realise the strangest connect and calm, the design process naturally fed my dopamine cravings - and I believe now that scary career leap and flowers may have quite literally saved me - from all sorts! 🤣

@carolinenorris, a special hug for you as a totally brilliant and gorgeous being - whom I suspect recognised that in me - and many years later asked me to design her wedding florals and just recently a prime tv series...

The most wonderful night ... and a testament too that change is never too late and can be absolutely OK ❤️Thank you BAFTA and HH! X
